RICHMOND, Va (WTVR)- The Valentine Richmond History Museum let its hair down a little bit Friday night with an the opening of a new exhibit featuring modern tattoos done in the Capital City.

Perhaps never before has tattooing been more prevalent. An estimated 21 percent of all American adults have a least one tattoo. And Richmond is believed to be the third most tattooed city in the United States, based on the number of tattoo shops per capita.

Friday night’s jam packed opening shows the Valentine hit a nerve. Among the attendees were those whose tats made the cut and the artists who did them. About 100 different people were photographed by Terry Brown for the exhibit – about half of them made the exhibit and the book about it.
