DALLAS, Texas (WTVR) - Last Friday "Big Tex" burned down on the Texas state fairgrounds.
He was so beloved that on Monday fans held a funeral and memorial to honor the 52 foot tall cowboy.
Officials say the fire started Friday by an electrical short in Tex's right boot. The statue had been greeting fairgoers for the last 60 years.
The Dallas Morning News says the fair plans to rebuild the statue in time for next year.
