After a cold start Monday morning, a warm-up began that will last for the rest of the week.
The overall weather pattern will allow warmth from the deep south to surge into our area, producing temperatures over 10° above normal for the period of Tuesday through Friday. Highs will hit or break 80° in the metro, which are more typical of late May or early September.
The record highs for this period for Richmond are:
- 87° Tuesday
- 86° Wednesday
- 83° Thursday & Friday
There will be a significant change in the jet stream pattern early next week, allowing the coolest air of the season to slip south from Canada into our area. Highs for Tuesday & Wednesday of next week may not get out of the 50s.
