Michael Vick has finally admitted that he does have a dog, and he also says it’s for a good reason—his kids.
"I understand the strong emotions by some people about our family’s decision to care for a pet," Vick said. "As a father, it is important to make sure my children develop a healthy relationship with animals.”
While Vick was on probation he was not able to own a dog but, his probation ended over the summer. A few months ago he told Piers Morgan that he wanted a dog for his kids.
Last week a Vick tweet that showed his daughter doing homework held a little reveal--with some Milkbones off to the side of the table. When he retweeted the same pic, the bones were gone.
He's avoided the question but finally told TMZafter days of public speculation: "Yeah, we have a dog,"
“This is an opportunity to break the cycle," he said. "To that end, I will continue to honor my commitment to animal welfare and be an instrument of positive change."
Vick was sentenced to 23 months in jail and probation for operating a dog fighting ring.
