RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - A dozen students were sent to the hospital after a Richmond school bus hit a deer Thursday morning.
Emergency crews were called to the 6700 block of Forest Hill Avenue, near Windsorview Drive, around 7:10 a.m.
Officials said 50 students were onboard the bus, which was headed to Thompson Middle School.
The students, along with the driver. were taken to either VCU Medical Center or Chippenham Medical Center. As of 12:30 p.m., most of the students had been released.
School officials notified the students' parents via ParentLink text.
Another bus picked up the rest of the kids and carried them to school.
The deer was killed.
