August Va. unemployment rate didn’t budge much

Posted

(WTVR) - The unemployment rate in Virginia for the month of August didn't budge much this year.

That's after the rate was adjusted for what's expected for the season.

The unemployment rates this year seem to be following a trend similar to last year, when the rate ticked up in June and July following a downward trend of several months, then remained unchanged in August.

Experts say the numbers traditionally dip this time of year when many college students quit their summer jobs to go back to school.

Virginia's rates are still lower than the national average.
