On Your Menu: Fall Apples with Crunchy Topping

3 medium apples, seeded and sliced thin

1/2 cup dried cranberries

3/4 cup of quick-cooking oatmeal

3/4 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup flour

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 cup butter or margarine, room temperature

Ice cream (vanilla or caramel) or whipped cream

Pre-heat oven on to 350 degrees. Spray 8-inch baking dish with a non-stick cooking spray

Arrange sliced apples and dried cranberries on bottom of dish.

In a bowl, combine oatmeal, sugar, flour, and cinnamon, then cut in butter or margarine with a pastry blender or two knives, until mixture

is crumbly.  Sprinkle this mixture evenly over apples, and bake in oven for 35 to 40 minutes.  

Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.

Makes 6 servings.
