PRINCE GEORGE, Va. (WTVR)—Last week a high school senior's car slid 135-feet off the road into a swamp, where he died.
Family and friends asked why there were no guard rails on this section of Courthouse Road, at Blackwater swamp.
Now, Prince George County Administrator Percy Ashcraft has confirmed with CBS 6 that he received word from the Virginia Department of Transportation that guard rails will soon be installed at that spot.
Seventeen-year old Marvin Massenburg Jr. was driving his Honda Accord to school when he pulled onto the shoulder to allow a police car, with its sirens and lights going, to pass.
But Massenburg’s car never stopped, and it travelled 135 feet before hitting the water.
Ashcraft said that installation is expected in two to four weeks.
