HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – A new audit reveals that Henrico’s court clerk may have overcharged some people in court fees.
The audit, which looked at court cases from April 2011 to June of 2012, found that the clerk both under and overcharged court appointed attorney fees by more than $1,500.
In two other cases, the clerk miscalculated court reporter fees, totaling nearly a thousand dollars.
There are also six other cases in which court fees were not charged properly, adding up to $200.
The Henrico county clerk said in only one of those cases did the defendant actually overpay their court fees. She also said that everyone is human and that sometimes mistakes happen.
