PORTLAND, Oregon—Firefighters rescued a kitten, but not from a tree.
A homeowner heard a kitten crying for help through a basement wall Sunday evening, and called Portland Fire and Rescue crews.
They used shovels, a plumbing company's tiny camera, and other equipment to rescue the little feline.
After six hours, their hard work paid off.
They finally managed to extricate the kitten from a drain pipe.
Firefighters took it to the fire station for the night and named it "Champ."
