SNELLVILLE, GA (WGCL) - The city of Snellville, Georgia hosted a special celebration Friday for the woman who survived a rare flesh-eating disease.
Surgeons had to amputate Aimee Copeland’s left leg, right foot and both of her hands after she fell from a zip line and cut her leg in May.
Copeland and her family spoke at the event in their hometown dubbed "Aimee's Welcome Home" celebration.
"Everyone in my community has inspired me to give back, because they inspired me so much," Copeland said.
Her father has announced that he plans to write a book about his daughter's struggle.
