CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - "I didn't know what to think."

A typical Friday afternoon in one Chesterfield neighborhood turned gruesome for Robert Perez.

"It looked like a pile of clothes with flies, flying off of it.”

"She looked like she was decomposing already.  She was real dark,” said Perez, “She was already swollen.”

Perez tells CBS 6, he then called 911..

"She was laying on her stomach."

When Perez says he noticed Donna Cheatham's body, lying in the driveway of the Chesterfield home.

"I didn't know if she had passed out.  And nobody knew that she passed out in the yard or if she got hit by a car and ran into the yard,” said Perez.

Officers rushed to the Rayon Park community, and discovered David Brogdon's body inside his house.

According Chesterfield police, both victims were shot to death in what detectives believe was a murder-suicide.

"I wanted to immediately rush in there to my friend.  But my neighbor here, she had to take me away from the situation."

Muriel Myers shares this Duplex with Brogdon, and insists she never heard a thing, describing her neighbor as a hardworking guy who looked out for others.

"He was always helping the kids out here either pumping up their tires or helping the neighbor change the tire on his car or helping her cut the grass or cut the tree down,” said Myers.

But Myers says Brogdon kept his personal life private.

"On an occasion, you would hear them talking lout, but it was happy, jolly conversation..back and forth between them two,” said Myers.  “I never heard a mean word spoken between them.  "I just don't know what would make a person...do that."

Chesterfield Police will continue their investigation; anyone with any information should contact the Chesterfield County Police (804)748-1251.  At this time police are not searching for any other subjects in connection to these deaths
