RICHMOND, Va (WTVR) - Looking to give back to needy kids this back to school season? Making a donation could come with a discounted side of macaroni and cheese.
This week Mama J's Restaurant is partnering with local T-shirt company Duct Tape Love to raise money for school supplies for children in the Jackson Ward neighborhood in Richmond.
This good deed comes with a bonus: Mama J's customers that donate at least $5 at the restaurant receive a 10 percent discount on their tab.
Monica Lucas, co-owner of Duct-tape love, said they decided to sponsor the dive after one normally held in the area was moved.
"We had heard that the school drive that normally takes place in Jackson Ward had been moved to the southside," Lucas said. "We wanted to make sure there was something still going on in the area."
The supplies will be distributed next Saturday, Sept. 1, in front of Mama J's at noon. Any child in need of supplies is invited to come and pick up a back pack stuffed with essentials.
