MEDINA COUNTY, Ohio (WJW) – In a process that took around five minutes, Nate Summerfield waived his right to an extradition hearing, clearing the way for his transportation to North Carolina to face murder charges in the death of Lynn Jackenheimer.

The body of the Ashland, Ohio mother was discovered in mid-July near the Outer Banks in North Carolina where the couple had vacationed with her two children. Authorities say Summerfield strangled and stabbed Jackenheimer.

Summerfield appeared before Medina County Common Pleas Court Judge James Kimbler and signed a waiver clearing the way for his extradition to North Carolina.

It is not yet known when Summerfield will be transported south by authorities.

WJW-TV’s Elisa Amigo reportsthat the families of both Summerfield and Jackenheimer were in court for the brief hearing.

A sister of Jackenheimer told Amigo as she entered court, “I hope he rots in hell.”

Summerfiled was taken into custody on Wednesday morning by U.S. Marshals at a hotel in Wadsworth. He had been on the run since early July after admitting to a family member that he had killed Jackenheimer.

According to authorities Summerfield and Jackenheimer’s children returned to Ashland on July 8, 2012 without Lynn. A nationwide manhunt ensued shortly thereafter.
