RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – The jackpot for Wednesday’s Powerball has grown to $305 million. The Virginia Lottery estimated Powerball players will buy more than one million tickets tomorrow in Virginia.
Since Powerball arrived in Virginia in 2010, the largest jackpot won in the Commonwealth was in April when a Berryville woman took home a $2 million prize.
If a single ticket matches all six Powerball numbers, the winner can take the full $305 million jackpot spread out over 30 yearly payments or choose a one-time cash option.
The cash option would result in a $203 million check — before taxes.
