Ads directly targeting the consumer aren’t just science fiction anymore, thanks to the “Facedeals” technology from marketing agency Redpepper.
A new service will use facial recognition cameras in restaurants, bars and shops to match shopper images with their Facebook profile and then—if the user has granted permission—a personalized deal will be sent to them.
The service, which definitely has privacy advocates concerned, is currently being beta-tested in Nashville, Tenn.
Check out the video report from Brian Todd that shows how the technology works, and then tell us in the comments if you would be on board with a service like this.
