CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WTVR) – A James River High School student is going to jail for two years and facing deportation in a drunk driving crash that killed his friend.

A Chesterfield prosecutor said the accident was more than just a bad wreck.

Officials said 18-year-old  was drunk driving without a license, speeding and ignoring road signs. He also did not have permission to use the car he was driving.

Luis Mendez, 17, died when the car ran off providence road, hit a ditch and went airborne twice before rolling.

All four people in the car were thrown from the vehicle.
