RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Virtually every day, Chuck Sallette is on the mighty James River well before sunrise. He has a route he covers that includes wide stretches of the river, along with trips to his favorite parks and beauty spots.
He takes thousands of photographs of what he sees every week.
At 64, he’s so far-sighted, he can’t see what’s in his viewfinder.
Often, this retired soil scientist has no idea whether he’s got anything decent until he’s home and looking through his shots on a bigger screen.
He chuckles when talking about how, some days, he can take 600 or more photographs.
Professional photographers might laugh at this amateur’s approach, but Chuck doesn’t care. He’s doing it out of love for nature and photography.
Mostly, his stage is Facebook. His morning and evening postings are a staple for many, a reminder that for all of the unexpected and sometimes painful turns that life takes, there’s real beauty, and a river, that runs through it.
Go to Chuck Sallette on Facebook. If you become his friend, you get his daily dose of photography.
