RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Sure, this Summer has been hot. In fact, our warmer-than-average temperatures are contributing to the hottest year-to-date on record. However, when you look at just Richmond specifically, the Summer of 2012 is nowhere near as bad as the recent Summer of 2010, when we set our record for the most 100-degree days in a single year, and we also counted a whopping (and record) 78 days of 90-degrees or hotter. This Summer (granted, we’re not done yet) is about half of 2010’s tally. If we continue on the same course we’ve set the first half of this Summer, we could end up nearing the 2010 conclusion through August and early September.
