RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)--Tonight the Richmond City Council also gave the green light to a road project that should make it easier to get down to the banks of the James River.

It’s a proposal nearly two decades in the making.

The plan calls for a connector road that would link South Second and Tredegar Streets.

Supporters of the connector said it should alleviate some rush hour traffic, in addition to making it easier to park near the river.
