The temperature hit 104° at 3:37 p.m. Saturday, tying the record high of 104° from 2010. It was also the hottest day of the year so far, beating the previous high of 103° from June 29. The normal high for is 90°.
Lows Sunday morning will be in the upper 70s. If the temperature does not fall to 76°, Richmond will set a new record for the warmest low temperature, beating the old record from 1900.
Temperatures will break 100° in much of the area again Sunday before a cold front comes through Sunday night. This will allow much cooler weather to return to the area for the coming week.
