CHIEFLAND, Florida (WTVR) - A Florida girl is recovering in the hospital after falling into a sinkhole in her backyard.
Six-year-old Ashlyn Coleman says she felt the ground get soft underneath her, then it gave way and caused her to fall about 15 feet.
"I was scared because I didn't see anyone and it was too dark in there. I got up and got on a root in front of me and I put my feet on that and pulled myself up. Then I got on the roof and I got out," says Coleman.
Coleman says she was able to use the light from her video game to help her see how to get out.
She has cuts and bruises but is expected to make a full recovery.
Police believe heavy rains may be to blame for causing the sinkhole.
