Isolated thunderstorms formed across the area Thursday afternoon. Due to the very high humidity, the storms produced very heavy downpours. The storms also moved very slowly, allowing some spots to pick up a few inches of rainfall in short period of time.
These pictures are from late Thursday afternoon on part of the Downtown Expressway.
As a reminder, it is not a good idea to drive through high water. Just one foot of water can make over 1000 pounds float, so heavy flooding can affect cars easily.More scattered storms will occur Friday afternoon. Localized heavy rainfall will be likely again.
