PETERSBURG, Va. (WTVR) - The City of Petersburg issued a warning about a man posing as a firefighter, trying to get into homes in the Walnut Hill area.
According to a press release from the city, the man is telling neighbors he needs to come into their homes to inspect their smoke alarms.
The man wore civilian clothes. The city said all firefighters who make house visits are in uniform and have fire department ID’s.
The city urged anyone contacted by the imposter to not let him inside.
