CAMDEN, NJ (WTVR) - A New Jersey man is caught on camera putting a 1-year-old baby in a washing machine.
Investigators say the man seen placing the baby boy in the washing machine is the babysitter's boyfriend. He claims he was playing hide and seek with the baby and never thought the machine would turn on.
In the video, you can see the man and the babysitter frantically try to get the machine's door open. They try for 5 minutes to get the baby out before the laundromat owner is able to cut the power supply to the machine.
The child suffered cuts and bruises, but is going to be okay. His mother says she didn't even learn about what happened until she saw the video on television. She says the babysitter told her the child was hurt in a fall. The babysitter also denied it was her in the video when the mother first confronted her about it.
The baby's mother says she would like to see the couple held accountable, but it's unlikely they'll be charged. Prosecutors say they've determined they didn't purposefully endanger the little boy.
