RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – The Governor’s Office failed to order a criminal background check when it hired Todd Schneider as executive chef for Governor’s mansion, according to a report by Anita Kumar in the Washington Post.[Click here to read the report]
“The hiring process for positions within the administration, including at the mansion, requires a full vetting of the applicant and a criminal background check,” McDonnell spokesman Tucker Martin told the Post. “There was a departure from this process in the case of Todd Schneider, who was hired very early in the administration.”
Earlier this month CBS 6 confirmed Virginia State Police were investigating Schneider over allegations of “improprieties involving the kitchen operation at the governor’s mansion.”
Schneider owns Seasons Fine Catering in Midlothian.
