RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - The Broad Street Entrance to Richmond City Hall will be closed next week as crews continue to install a snow melt/retention system.
According to a short statement from the Office of the Press Secretary, the installation will take place each day beginning at 7:30 a.m. and finishing around 5:00 p.m. each day. The work requires that the entrance be closed while crews work overhead installing the system.
The city is installing the system after snow falling from the roof of City Hall fell and shattered the glass canopy in January of 2010. No injuries were reported during the incident but the incident prompted the city to find a way to safely remove snow from the building, which is over 17 stories tall.
Employees and the public can still use the entrances located on 9th, 10th and East Marshall Streets.
