RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)—Remember Jara Janulis from last year’s March Madness?

Janulis was a Cavalier Telephone employee, and a VCU student.

When his school team advanced steadily, and surprisingly through the brackets and into the Final Four, he approached his boss with a seemingly simple request.

He asked for time off to go see the Final Four game in Houston, where the VCU Rams played the Butler Bulldogs.

But his boss said the time-off request was to last minute.

So Janulis went anyhow, and he was fired from his job.

CBS 6 reporter Jon Burkett saw Janulis’s sign in Houston, and tonight he ran into Janulis at T.Millers, where an official VCU game party was being held.
