Helicopter shot sinks basketball from 192 feet

Posted

Sports fans go a little nuts during March Madness.  And, shooting hoops from a helicopter ranks right up there.

Most basketball players are tall, but sinking one from the heights of Ferris wheels, lightning towers, trampolines and helicopters, well, that’s ridiculous—nearly impossible.

Three Michigan guys were determined to sink a basket from 192 feet. So they took 25 balls up in the helicopter and made dozens and dozens of trips.

Finally, they were able to nail a shot. Shocking enough, that wasn’t even a Guinness record; it needed to be shot form 212 feet, 5 inches.

These Michigan guys like making viral videos. Their last viral video hit was almost a year ago. Maybe you remember it. It was a 10 minute rendition of American Pie that required closing much of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan to film in one continuous take. Thousands of extras joined in to lip-synch.

They're dedicating their latest video to March Madness...

And here’s one element of madness--from the altitude they’re shooting at, the terminal velocity of the ball is around 100 mph.
