RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)--Parents at JB Fisher Elementary School in Richmond are going to new extremes to try and keep their school from closing.

A local video company, RVA Buzz, assisted parents with creating a video to spread their message about why the school needs to stay open.

Currently, JB Fisher is on a short list of schools recommended to close by the school district’s rezoning committee.  Several schools like Fisher are underutilized and the school system is looking to consolidate in order to save money.

CBS 6 spoke with the rezoning committee’s chair, Shonda Harris-Muhammed who said she watched the video and “it will have no bearing on the task that this rezoning committee has before them.”

Rezoning Committee members are reminding parents that these plans are just recommendations and school board members will make the final call.
