A father fed up with his son's bad grades is putting the middle schooler's punishment on display.

The South Florida seventh grader had to stand at a busy intersection holding a sign of shame.

The sign that Michael Bell Jr. had to hold up read:

"Hey, I want to be a class clown.  Is it wrong?"

The back says: "I’m in the 7th grade and got 3 F's. Blow your horn if there's something is wrong with that."

The seventh grader is failing three classes.

"Civics, language arts and math,” said his dad, Michael Bell Sr.
He also said he is out of idea and has been trying to reach his son.“He doesn't want to be reached and this is my last resort."

So Michael’s punishment for getting bad grades was to spend his spring break at a busy intersection in Kendall, Florida.

"I'm sorry that it has to get to this point and that when I get back to school, I'm going to do better,” said the young student.
