CHARDON, Ohio (WTVR) – Chardon Police Chief Tim McKenna said one of the student victims in Monday’s shooting at Chardon High School has died, reported Fox 8 News in Cleveland.

Previously, Geauga County Sheriff Daniel McClelland said five students were hospitalized. McClelland said the shootings occurred in multiple locations, suggesting the shooter had specific targets in mind.

The Geauga County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit was used to apprehend the suspect “some distance from the school.”

The conditions of the injured students have not yet been released.

Chardon is about 30 miles east of Cleveland.

A parent with whom Fox 8 News talked said that his child had called him from inside the high school. His son suggested that the shooting occurred in the cafeteria and that five shots had been fired.
