RICHMOND, Va, (WTVR) – One of the biggest charities working to cure breast cancer has cut ties with one of the country’s largest women’s health organizations.
The Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation told Planned Parenthood it will stop providing funding for breast cancer screenings and prevention.
A spokesperson for Planned Parenthood reacted by saying that Komen, quote, “succumbed to political pressure” related to abortion politics.
Planned Parenthood is the subject of an investigation by Republican members of Congress for allegedly using federal dollars toward providing abortions.
A local source with knowledge of the Central Virginia affiliate said faith based groups refused to take money from the local chapter of Komen because of ties to Planned Parenthood.
