Executive Mansion gets Louisa County Christmas tree

Posted

RICHMOND, VA (WTVR) – A 12-foot Canaan Fir was delivered to the Executive Mansion in Richmond, Virginia to be the official Christmas tree for Governor McDonnell and his family.

The tree came from Claybrooke Farm in Louisa County.

“The idea of having a real tree, a real farm product used as the centerpiece for the holiday, it’s a wonderful tradition,” said tree farmer Virginia Carroll.

In addition to the tree from Louisa, the Lampert family of Crazy Joe’s Tree Farm in Culpeper County presented wreaths for the mansion.

The theme for the this year’s mansion decorations is an 1860’s theme.

There are many Civil War-era props positioned around Capitol Square for the filming of Steven Spielberg‘s movie “Lincoln.”

The Executive Mansion will host holiday open house December 20 and 21 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. No appointment is necessary.
