HENRICO COUNTY, VA (WTVR) - A Henrico judge set an $80,000 bail Wednesday for former cheerleading coach Maurice Jerralds, $10,000 for each of the charges against him.
During a bond hearing at Henrico Circuit Court, the prosecution described a string of incidents involving Jerralds, the former coach at USA All-Stars Cheerleading, and two teenage girls.
The alleged incidents involving the two teens, 15 and 17, took place between 2007 and 2010.
Several former students cried as they heard allegations involving fondling, nude pictures, and eventually sexual intercourse between Jerralds and the oldest victim.
A third victim, who was 11 years old at the time of the alleged incident, has also come forward. She is now 22 years old.
Gina Morgan, the co-owner of USA All-Stars Cheerleading, says it was emotional listening to allegations against Jerralds.
“We’re in the business for the children to help them grow to be stronger athletes and stronger individuals,” says Morgan. “To know this happened right in front of us is devastating.”
Cheering parent Nancy Gomez says many parents are dealing with shock and anger. Gomez says her two daughters looked up to Jerralds, and are having a difficult time understanding the charges against him, especially her eldest.
“It’s a difficult thing to talk to your daughter about, especially when it’s something she hasn’t experienced,” says Gomez. “This is the first time she’s going through this with someone she trusted and looked up to.”
Jerralds is expected back in court on January 9 at 3 p.m.
