Buy a box, give a box: helping restaurant workers affected by COVID-19
RICHMOND, Va. - In this time of social distancing, we’re all longing to enjoy the spots we were frequenting just a few short weeks ago. "We’re Open Virginia" is an effort to tell the stories of businesses and restaurants that are still providing services and need your support more than ever. In a time when we can't all gather around a table, we can still come together as a community.
Today we showcased Cavalier Produce, a company that typically provides wholesale produce for restaurants. They’ve adjusted their business model to assist the community and will offer curbside pickup in locations in Richmond and beyond. Get a box and donate an additional $10 and Cavalier Produce will give a box of produce and food to a restaurant industry employee affected by the wave of recent restaurant closures.
Call Cavalier Produce at 800-394-4549 to place your order Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Same-day pickup is underway at their Louisa facility daily from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Richmond curbside pickup locations will be open Wednesdays and Fridays from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Richmond-area pickups will be offered at The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing in Richmond, The Boathouse Sunday Park in Midlothian or Red Salt Chophouse and Sushi in Short Pump.
In Charlottesville, pick up will be offered on Wednesdays and Fridays from 4:00 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Virginia National Bank.

Taco Tuesday now has a best friend called #TakeoutTuesday! Many of our local restaurant friends, like Casa Italiana, are participating. Casa Italiana is offering takeout and curbside pickup each day, all day, and will offer delivery beginning at 4:00 p.m. daily within a five-mile radius of the restaurant. Casa Italiana is located at 8801 Three Chopt Road in Henrico.
