RICHMOND, Va. -- Black Lodge has opened for business in Richmond's Scott Addition neighborhood.
Black Lodge offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner Tuesday through Saturday.
While Black Lodge may be a new concept, the people behind the business are the Richmond veterans behind Brenner Pass and Chairlift, the coffee shop which transformed into Black Lodge.
"We've had to pivot several times since March. So we've had 10 months of practice at this," co-owner James Kohler said. "We've learned over that time doing takeout [at Brenner Pass] what works, what travels well, and what people are looking for which I think has changed from when we were open before."
Kohler said popular menu items include a cereal milk latte, the Harissa fried chicken sandwich, and poutine.
"[The menu is] a little bit different than what [our customers] from Metzger Bar and Butchery and Brenner Pass [may be used to]," he said. "It's from the same vein but we're kind of taking the reins off a little bit as what you're going to expect ingredient-wise. There are options to be able to switch up some of your favorites with different stuff."
