HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Members of the Richmond Women for Trump Facebook group, a chapter in the Virginia Women for Trump group, met Wednesday at Deep Run Park to pray for the nation's leaders.

The event was the second event for the group's recently formed Richmond chapter.

They plan to meet again Friday at 5 p.m. for a flag-waving event at the intersection of West Broad Street and John Rolfe Parkway in Short Pump.

"We are supporters of President Trump, but more importantly we are supporters of our great nation," Traci Smith LaGanke posted online. "I am confident there are many of us women concerned for the fate of our country and the freedoms we hold so dear."

President Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden are scheduled to debate for the final time Thursday night.

A national poll from The New York Times and Siena College released this week showed Biden with a nine-point lead over Trump.

According to the poll, Biden led Trump 50% to 41% among likely voters. That would be a slight increase from a month ago when Biden led Trump 49% to 41% among likely voters.

“The gender gap has widened as Biden now leads among women by 23 points, up from 16 points in September, and Trump leads among men by six points, after they were tied last month,” Dr. Don Levy, Director, Siena College Research Institute, said. “Both candidates continue to have near-universal support among voters from their party, and independents continue to support Biden, currently by nine points."

While ahead in national polls, the 2020 presidential race will be decided by a series of key battleground states.

Trump won the 2016 election despite losing the popular vote to Hillary Clinton 46% to 48%.

According to the poll, nearly one-third of voters have already cast their ballots.
