RICHMOND, Va. -- If you ventured to Carytown in search of some last-minute holiday gifts this weekend, chances are you may have had to wait outside one of the popular shops for a few minutes.
One of those shops is Ashby RVA, a Richmond resale favorite that has called Carytown home since 2012.
Lyn Page, the store's co-owner, said Ashby offers free shipping and local delivery options for those who don't have time to stop in the shop, or don't feel comfortable doing so due to the pandemic.
Page said shops in Carytown are diligent with following CDC guidelines -- and says it is encouraging to know that people will wait outside in cold, and sometimes rainy weather to support local businesses.
“It's people in the community that have a means to help other people, locking arms and making those donations so that they can make a memorable Christmas for families that maybe didn't think this was possible,” Page said.
She also said many customers are surprised to learn that small businesses offer gift cards.
Page recommends that if you are having trouble finding the perfect present, buying a gift card is a great way to still shop local.
