RICHMOND, Va. -- Anthem LemonAid 2020 is going virtual this July and August with four lemon-inspired, interactive challenges to commemorate the charity's 20th anniversary of helping local children and families faced with cancer diagnoses.

"This year, Anthem LemonAid will consist of four virtual challenges that you can do with family, friends, business colleagues, and more," organizers said. "We invite our community to register online, choose one or more of our challenges to participate in, and follow along on social media. Also, new this year, participants can unlock special LemonAid swag and win exciting prize packages!"

Lemon Challenge -- July 17 through Aug. 15

Our signature challenge for LemonAid 2.0 will be the Put the Squeeze on Cancer Lemon Challenge.
This challenge will continue throughout the entire campaign. We invite participants to record themselves biting a lemon, post it on their social media pages with their fundraising page link, tag our Facebook page @AnthemLemonAidRVA using the hashtag #RVALemonChallenge, and invite friends and family to join the challenge. If you don't have social media, please email your entry to AnthemLemonAid@chfrichmond.org.

Sports Challenge -- July 26 through Aug. 1

The second challenge for Anthem LemonAid 2.0 will be the Kick-out Cancer Sports Challenge sponsored by The Goddard School.
For the second week of this event we invite participants to creatively incorporate a lemon into a sports activity, post it on their social media pages with their fundraising page link, tag our Facebook page @AnthemLemonAidRVA using the hashtag #RVALemonChallenge, and invite friends and family to join the challenge.

Ideas include: hit a lemon off of a golf tee, hit a lemon with a baseball bat, etc. One winner will be chosen by a panel of judges to receive a sports-inspired prize package. If you don't have social media, please email your entry to AnthemLemonAid@chfrichmond.org.
*entries due by 12:00 p.m. on July 31.

Baking Challenge -- Aug. 2 through Aug. 8

The third challenge for Anthem LemonAid 2.0 will be the Stir Up a Cure Baking Challenge sponsored by Primrose Schools.
For the third week of this event we invite participants to creatively incorporate a lemon into a dish, post it on their social media pages with their fundraising page link, tag our Facebook page @AnthemLemonAidRVA using the hashtag #RVALemonChallenge, and invite friends and family to join the challenge.

Ideas include: bake lemon meringue cupcakes, bake lemon poppy seed chicken, etc. One winner will be chosen by a panel of judges to receive a cooking-inspired prize package. If you don't have social media, please email your entry to AnthemLemonAid@chfrichmond.org.

Art Challenge -- Aug. 9 through Aug. 15

The fourth challenge for Anthem LemonAid 2.0 will be the Paint Away Cancer Art Challenge sponsored by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
For the final week of this event, we invite participants to creatively incorporate a lemon into a piece of art, post it on their social media pages with their fundraising page link, tag our Facebook page @AnthemLemonAidRVA using the hashtag #RVALemonChallenge, and invite friends and family to join the challenge.

Ideas include: make a lemon themed coloring page, make a piece of clothing out of fabric with lemons on it, etc. One winner will be chosen by a panel of judges to receive an art-inspired prize package. If you don't have social media, please email your entry to AnthemLemonAid@chfrichmond.org.

Anthem LemonAid's goal is to raise money to support the Hematology and Oncology Clinic at Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU continues.

"The teams at CHoR and the families served are counting on us so our work must continue on," officials said.

Additionally, 100 percent of the funds raised will support kids fighting cancer at Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU, organizers said.
