Tornado and Severe thunderstorm watches in effect until 8 p.m.

RICHMOND, Va. — A tornado watch was issued Monday afternoon for areas north and west of metro-Richmond.

Temperatures will reach the upper 80s and low 90s Monday afternoon. Skies will be partly sunny, and an approaching cold front from the west will introduce the threat for a few scattered showers and thunderstorms later this afternoon and tonight. These storms could contain gusty winds and very heavy rain, although not everyone will get wet. It will be warm and humid overnight, with lows in the low 70s.
