Woman in labor while voting, casts ballot through contractions

Posted

COOK COUNTY, Il. (WTVR) - You often hear stories from people about how important it is to vote, but this is extreme. A woman in Illinois put her health on pause to cast her ballot for the first time.

Galicia Malone wasn't  going to let anything stop her from voting, not even going into labor.

The Cook County Clerk's Office says the 21-year-old's contractions were five minutes apart while she was voting.

Malone delivered a baby girl, but there's no word yet about the party affiliation of her Election Day baby.
