When Richmond baseball officially returns the staff says this time things will be bigger and better.
Inside Richmond baseball's new war room, a handful of employees page through 6,000 entries looking for Richmond baseball's new name.
Names like the Rebels, the Rapids and the Ravens, in honor of Edgar Allan Poe, are the top choices.
But Todd "Parney" Parnell says not so fast on the Ravens. Parnell says, "Well, there's a little football team up the street in Baltimore with that name."
The name selection will be narrowed down to five choices on Monday, but tickets go on sale starting at 9:00am Saturday.
Meade Eck was an usher with the Richmond Braves for 19 years and is hoping to get his old job back.
Eck says, "We were very emotional about the job and we didn't know what was going to happen the following year so we're glad the team is back."
After the new year, some 200 seasonal employees will be hired and the management staff of just 10 will eventually grow to 20.
Parnell says, "Right now, we want to make Richmond Professional Baseball the best it can possibly be and I think it can be the best in the country."
