Police Search for Hit and Run Suspect
Richmond Police are investigating a hit and run and searching for the suspect that got away. The incident happened around ten in the morning Sunday in the parking lot of the Chimbo Supermarket.

Neighbors say the corner is typically quiet on Sunday mornings but some neighbors were stirred by the sound of the incident as it was happening and the scene that developed later.

"Around ten I heard a scream but didn't pay it any mind," said nearby neighbor Brittney Couser.

Police were called to the scene shortly after.

"We got a call that a female had been run over by a vehicle, units responded and found a woman down in a parking lot," said Lt. Robert Marland, Richmond Police Department.

Some employees from inside the store rushed to find out what had happened and walked in to an active crime scene.

" I happened to see a young lady laying on the curb somebody had pushed her out of the car and tried to hit her with it," said employee Sean Harper.

Police say there's still many unanswered questions. They're unsure about the relationship of the suspect and the driver or how the incident happened. They're asking anyone in the community with information to help them piece the case together.

"We're conducting an investigation, we're reviewing evidence and talking with witnesses," said Marland. TRACK

The victim was taken to VCU Medical Center with serious injuries but remains in stable condition. Police say once she is able they will ask for her account of the incident. Meanwhile some neighbors will be keeping her in mind as she recovers.

"I hope that she was ok and I will send her my prayers," said Couser.

Police are asking anyone with information about the accident to give Crime Stoppers a call at 780-1000.
