RICHMOND - Governor Tim Kaine is making sure every student in Virginia learns lessons from the Holocaust.

Tuesday the governor visited the Virginia Holocaust Museum in Richmond's Shockoe Bottom. There he signed the Holocaust Education Bill into law. The new law requires teachers to include specific Holocaust lessons in both middle and high school history classes.

The governor hopes those lessons won't focus solely on the past. Governor Kaine says, "Our youth will be wholly taught the painful and tragic history of the cause and consequences of the Holocaust and will come to understand lessons that are important lessons not just about history but about today and tomorrow."

Governor Kaine says the state will send teachers those Holocaust lessons over the Internet in order to keep down the cost of adding the new curriculum.
