Hanover Earthquake
HANOVER COUNTY -
Did you feel the Earth move Wednesday morning?
Virginia Tech Seismological Observatory Director Dr. Martin Chapman says he received several "felt reports" of an earthquake in western Hanover County around 7:00am.
Dr. Chapman says this is the same area that felt shocks back on August 2 and 3.
Dr. Chapman says Wednesday's events would have been smaller than those recorded in August. He also says his department cannot analyze the data from Wednesday morning's tremors because they occurred during ground motion associated with the major earthquake in the South Pacific.

I live in Mechanicsville and around 2am last night 10/1. When going to bed, my husband and I both felt the bed rock. It lasted a while, maybe even around a min. because it took us a while to figure out what it was. Though very slight it had to be an earthquake
