RICHMOND -
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles says six of its customer-service centers will no longer be open on
Saturdays, starting September 19.
These offices will only be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays:
** Lexington, 110 Walker Street in the Summit Square Business Center ** Covington, 810 Grayson Avenue ** Emporia, 103 Commonwealth Boulevard ** Staunton, 17 First Street ** Vansant, 1657 Lover's Gap Road ** Altavista, 1301-H Main Street
The change will allow the agency to utilize more staff during the weekdays and is part of the state's overall cost-reduction plan.
The agency has 74 offices statewide; 12 already operate on weekdays only.
