Chesterfield County Adopts New Noise Ordinance
The Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors adopted a new noise ordinace.

The new one would replace the old one invalidated by the Virginia Supreme Court because of its language.

It's essentially the same ordinance they had before, but tweaked to make it constitutional.

During tonight's board meeting, about a dozen residents voiced their concerns about the revised ordinance. After an hour, the board agreed on the new ordinance.

Violating the following is a misdemeanor, with a fine not less that $100, but no more than $500:

If music, TV or party can be heard 50 feet away between 12 a.m. - 7 a.m.

If your dog is barking between 10 p.m. - 7 a.m.

If you mow the lawn between 10 p.m. - 7 a.m.

If garbage trucks operate between 10 p.m. - 5 a.m.
