YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) — Vance Cooksey scored 18 points and Eddie D'Haiti had 12 points and 10 rebounds, leading Youngstown State to an 81-41 rout of Hiram College on Sunday.
DeAndre Mays and Vytas Sulskis added 10 points apiece for the Penguins (1-1), who outrebounded the Division III Terriers (0-1) 59-23.
Dallas Blocker grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Penguins. Cooksey finished 7-for-8 from the field, while also grabbing eight rebounds.
The Terriers were within 20-15 with just over 9 minutes to play in the first, but the Penguins went on a 22-9 run from that point to take an 18-point halftime advantage. They cruised in the second half by outscoring Hiram 39-17, including a 20-0 run midway through the frame.
Chris Roberts was the lone Hiram player in double figures, scoring 16 points.
