Ray Long Steps Down At Patrick Henry
ASHLAND, VA - One of the most decorated and successful coaches in the Richmond area has decided to hang up his whistle.

Ray Long has guided the Patrick Henry Patriots for 28 years, but this season will have been his last.

Long won a Central Region record 228 games in his career and went to the playoffs 17 times in 28 seasons. His teams made the state championship game three times, coming away with one state title back in 1994.

Just a few seasons ago, the Patriots won 46 straight Colonial District games. Long won 6 regional titles and is the only coach in Patrick Henry history to have a winning career record.

This past season, the Patriots were just 3-7, their first losing record since 1992.

Athletic Director Dennis Minton will begin a search for Long's replacement immediately
